The Definitive Guide to Paying Home-Based Filipino Virtual Assistants

by Chris C. Ducker · 212 comments
Virtual Assistant Salary Guide
PLEASE NOTE: This post was originally published in September 2010. Since then the ‘work from home’ industry in the Philippines has, and will continue to develop immensely over the next 3-5 years. I’ve therefore decided to update this post regularly, so that no matter when you visit, it’s always up to date!

Last Updated: September, 2013

One thing is for sure – if you pay peanuts, you’ll get monkeys!
Since launching Virtual Staff Finder back in 2010, we’ve received thousands of questions on the subject of working with virtual assistants – particularly from the Philippines. Everything from hiring and training them, right the way down to working with your VA on a day to day basis, and how to keep them motivated.
However, the number one question we hear more than anything else is “How much do I pay my Filipino Virtual Assistant…?”.
So, to answer this question in a concise, yet highly knowledgable way – based on years of experience – and the fact that myself and my VSF Team are based here in the Philippines, all year round, this post has been put together as a general guide to doing just that – paying your Virtual Assistant based in the Philippines.
Please bear in mind these salary guidelines are for home-based Virtual Assistant’s from the Philippines, working from their homes, for you directly. If you don’t want to work with virtual staff directly, nor train them, motivate them or even speak to them – then I suggest looking into a more professional outsourcing set-up.

Different Types of Virtual Assistants

So, here you go a guideline on the four main types of Virtual Assistant’s, what you can expect them to be able to do, task wise, and what you should be looking to pay them for both full-time, and part-time positions. Hope this clears a few things up for everyone.
Virtual Assistant Skill Sets

There are also other types of virtual workers available from the Philippines, such as video editors, audio editors, graphic designers and the like, however, based on us working with hundreds of entrepreneurs over the time we’ve been in business at Virtual Staff Finder, we’ve found this set of four to be the most sought-after.

Salary Guidelines

Ultimately, its down to you, as the virtual boss to decide what you are happy paying for your virtual staff. However, to be able to attract, hire and keep great staff working for you virtually by outsourcing to the Philippines, you also have to be very aware that the industry has, and continues to change immensely. The people are becoming more and more experienced, and more and more in-demand. They know this, and therefore it is no longer possible (in our eyes, anyway) to get a General VA for $250 a month. Not if you want them to do a great job for you, anyway!
The following are suggested full-time salary guidelines that you can follow:
  • General Virtual Assistant (GVA) – $450-$750 a month
  • Article / Content Writer - $400-$600 a month
  • SEO / Web Marketer VA – $600-$800 a month
  • Web Developer - $600-$1,400 a month

Additional / Emerging Virtual Staff Roles

I’ve seen more people recently asking for additional types of virtual staff on a regular basis over the last year or so. They are as follows, and again – all rates are approximate and based upon market conditions and experience levels, obviously:
  • Graphic Designers – $700 – $1,200 a month
  • Audio / Video VA’s – $500 – $1,200 a month
  • Mobile App Developer VA’s – $800 – $1,400 a month (Note: not popular in the Philippines currently. Look to Eastern Europe for this for the time being!)
* Part-time rates would obviously be 50% of full-time rates.
Now, again, these are just guidelines. For example, 3-4 years ago, you could get a full-time General Virtual Assistant from the Philippines to work for you for that $250 I mentioned earlier. But, times change, and the home-based outsourcing world is changing, too.
If you have any more questions on this subject feel free to comment below, or for more in-depth answers and advice, just reach out to the fantastic Virtual Staff Finder team directly.

14-11-13 Prior Report

After had stayed in a camp to pack test papers  for about 20 days to pay my urgent rent and utility bills, I was just in a rest  mode not to try anything for 5 days or so but when it comes to be 6th day from that by being in a sharing office, I got started to try something for earning money to make a living with little more urgency and desperaton.

In the extension of same walkthrough, I  read again the document that is "rank without backlinks" (that is another very important  thing to rank on google with "Google ranking 200 factors" written by seo India and occured that I intended to promote something like phsiognomy(reading face) that very interested in from then on so it added on project folder on  Joshua and my tool of bookmarking.

On facing and reading this resource, I suddenly occured Bring the fresh "17 free backlinks sources" in fast start guide pdf material and found out that is updated on September with refering google planner since it was done on July.

I've have pretty much interests for the topic of  "ranking without backlinks" since got to know that kind of way to rank is able to be used by Joshua - originally, suggested by George Brown, his product google snipper- with not a little surprises then that topic has to be my big story and while doing that in latest news of bring the fresh site got also know  "kindle money mastery" related with selling kindle ebooks on amazon that is the interesting field because it is relevant the business of selling books or books themselves.

Today, I'll do this with continuity.   (It takes one and a half hour to write down this brief report.)

Our Favorite Top 7 Free Keyword Research Tools

Google Logo
Everybody likes free stuff, and fortunately the top keyword research tools on the web just happen to be just that: free. While it’s all well and good that paid tools like Wordze and Wordtracker get the lion’s share of mention (mainly due their having affiliate programs), the free tools still walk all over them in terms of the amount of data returned and trending capabilities. We’ll skip mentioning paid scraping tools like SpyFu and Keycompete for today.
So, here’s the list of our favorite free keyword research tools, if you haven’t tried them all yet, give them a spin!
  1. The Motherload: Google Adwords Keyword Tool (No Adwords Log In Required)
  2. Aaron Wall’s SEObook Keyword List Generator
  3. MSN Adcenter Labs Keyword Research Suite
  4. DigitalPoint.com Keyword Selection Tool
  5. WebConfs Keyword Playground
  6. SEOmoz Popular Searches
  7. Wordtracker’s http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/
Of course, if you combine the results you pull with the FREE RevenueWire Keyword Manager, you can mix ‘em up and build out whole new lists!
These free sites and tools might have been around for a while, but they’re still the best at providing relevant data and results.
Post a comment with your favorite tools!

* Affiliate should be coder. (good post)

Debunking The Myth That Affiliates Are Coders

feature-aff-coder
Have you ever come across any affiliate marketing myths at forums or on industry blogs? There’s a ton of them out of there — like it’s easy to get rich quick online, or you don’t have to do any work to make a fortune.
Well, now you can add another myth to your list. There’s a perception that affiliate marketers are actually coders, people sitting at a computer and punching out HTML and PHP code all day, making themselves millions in the process.
Of course that’s simply not the case, and in this post we’ll briefly discuss why.
Affiliate Marketing Requires Business Expertise
MYTH: Affiliate marketing is purely a technical discipline that only requires coding and technological skill.
FACT: There’s a lot more to affiliate marketing than technical aptitude. Affiliates are first and foremost marketers. They anticipate market trends and identify new business opportunities. They conduct market research, isolate target consumers, and then pick the best strategic touch-points to deliver an impactful sales message that will generate the highest possible conversion rates.
Affiliates also have the ability to navigate the intricacies of campaign management including: keyword bidding, campaign budgeting, negotiating media buys, split testing to name a few.
Coding is a Nice to Have (not a must have) Skill
MYTH: You have to be able to code to run your own campaigns.
FACT: Coding is only one aspect of running an affiliate marketing campaign. Admittedly it’s a very important component that every campaign has to have in order to function, but it’s not a skill that you necessarily have to have yourself. There are solutions available that will do the coding for you, so you can focus on the higher-level strategic parts of your business.
Website and Landing Page Creation –– It’s easy to build, launch and test websites and landing pages without writing code. Some of the resources worth checking out are:
  • WordPress — the most well known in the business
  • Squarespace — designed for ecommerce, $20 per month for unlimited sites
  • Wix — great customer service, drag and drop interface, and it’s free
  • Breezi — another free tool, the interface is a little more restrictive than Wix but worth checking out
Outsourcing — Outsourcing is a great option to get the your coding jobs done accurately and efficiently. Like any type of hiring, it takes time to find the right person for your business. Many affiliates have found that 90% of the time, the guy they thought was the perfect fit for the job doesn’t work out. So a great way to start is to outsource a trial project to several contractors and see who is the best fit.
Learn Coding Basics
If you are interested in learning how to code yourself, the more power to you. Even if you choose to outsource your coding, having an introductory level of knowledge will help you work with contractors effectively.
  • Virtual Training Company (VTC) — An online training school that offers over 1,000 classes. Access to the classes is just $30
  • Lynda.com — Provides more in-depth training than VTC and memberships start at $25 / month
  • Code Acedemy — Classes focus on HTML, PHP, Java Script, Python and Ruby, best of all it’s free!
Do you agree that affiliates aren’t coders, or do you have any additional resources you’d like to share with other affiliates? Please comment on this post with your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you have to say!
